ROHTAK : The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and the Loktantra Suraksha Party (LSP) on Wednesday announced 27 and 31 candidates in their second lists for the Haryana assembly elections to be held on October 21.

The BSP has pitched khap leader Ramesh Dalal, who grabbed headlines for trying to reunite the Chautala clan last month with the help of other 12-odd khap representatives, from the Beri constituency in Jhajjar district.

Of the 27 candidates, two women have figured on the list. While Sunita Sabharwal will contest from Israna (reserved), Manju Dahiya is in the fray from Hisar.

Dalal said he decided to contest on BSP ticket to reunite the Dalits and others sections of the society. “The ruling party damaged our social fabric by dividing people on caste lines. I will contest this election to reunite all the sections. I consulted people of the constituency before entering the poll fray,” he added.

The party had announced 41 candidates in its first list last week.

The Loktantra Suraksha Party (LSP) also pitched two women on its second list of 31 candidates. Party supremo Raj Kumar Saini will be contesting from the Gohana seat.

Saini said his party has tried to give representation to all castes as per their population.

“So far we have announced 47 candidates and the remaining ones will be announced by tomorrow,” the party supremo added.

There are 90 seats in the Haryana assembly of which 17 are reserved for scheduled castes.
