NC LEADERS TO MEET FAROOQ, OMAR TODAY
The delegation led by provincial president Devender Singh Rana will leave from Jammu on Sunday
Two months after detention of National Conference (NC) leaders Farooq and Omar Abdullah, the J&K government on Saturday allowed an NC delegation from Jammu to meet them.
: Two months after the abrogation of Article 370 in the Valley and subsequent detention of National Conference (NC) leaders Farooq and Omar Abdullah, the Jammu and Kashmir government on Saturday allowed an NC delegation from the Jammu province to meet party president Farooq Abdullah and vice-president Omar Abdullah, party spokesperson Madan Mantoo said.
Mantoo said, “The delegation, led by provincial president Devender Singh Rana, along with former party legislators, will leave by Indigo flight from Jammu on Sunday morning.”
Mantoo said the government conveyed permission to the request made by the provincial president Rana to governor Satya Pal Malik on Thursday evening.
He said the decision to meet the father-son duo had been taken at an emergent meeting of the senior functionaries and district presidents of the Jammu province two days ago, soon after restrictions on the movement of Jamm-based NC leaders had been lifted.
Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah and scores of NC leaders in the Kashmir Valley had been detained on August 4 while restrictions were imposed on the movement of prominent party leaders in the Jammu province. However, the restrictions on the Jammu-based leaders were lifted on the evening of Wednesday.
Adviser to the Jammu and Kashmir governor, Farooq Khan, on Thursday had said that Kashmiri leaders will be released ‘one by one after analysis of every individual’.
