PM to inaugurate Kartarpur corridor on Nov 8: Harsimrat

PAKISTAN ON THURSDAY SAID NO DATE HAS BEEN FIXED SO FAR FOR THE OPENING OF THE MUCH-AWAITED CORRIDOR ON ITS SIDE

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the much-awaited Kartarpur corridor, connecting Dera Baba Nanak shrine in Punjab’s Gurdaspur with Darbar Sahib gurdwara in Pakistan, on November 8, tweeted Union food processing industries minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal on Saturday.

“With the blessings of Guru Nanak Dev ji, Sikh Panth’s ardaas for ‘khule darshan deedar’ of Sri Kartarpur Sahib to finally become reality! On November 8th, history will be created with PM Narendra Modi ji inaugurati­ng the Kartarpur corridor (ICP),” Harsimrat said in a tweet.

“After the inaugurati­on, the PM will pay obeisance at Sultanpur Lodhi. On November 11, Union home minister Amit Shah will visit Sultanpur Lodhi to attend a function being organised by the SGPC on the 550th birth anniversar­y of Guru Nanak and on November 12, President Ram Nath Kovind will visit the historic town,” she said.

“What could not have been made possible for 72 years under the Congress rule, PM Modi has corrected that wrong now,” she added.

Pakistan on Thursday said no date has been fixed so far for the inaugurati­on of the muchawaite­d Kartarpur corridor, even as it assured that it will be open on time on the occasion of the birth anniversar­y of Guru Nanak next month.

Last week, Punjab CM Capt Amarinder Singh had former invited the President and PM to attend the opening of the Kartarpur corridor.

He also invited former PM Manmohan Singh to join a special all party jatha that will travel to Kartarpur Sahib.
