Dhumal campaigns in Pachhad , Jai Ram remains pitted in D’shala

low after his unexpected defeat in the assembly elections, former chief minister (CM) Prem Kumar Dhumal on Saturday campaigned for Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) nominee Reena Kashyap in the Pachhad assembly segment.

The BJP is facing the heat from its own jilted leader Dayal Pyari, former Zila Parishad chairperson in Pachhad.

Dhumal addressed two public meetings, one at Naina Tikkar in Pachhad and other at Lahna Banka.

Party general secretary Chander Mohan Thakur said, “It is for the first time that Dhumal ji campaigned for party candidate. He attended two meeting and left back. He is likely to attend election meetings in Dharamshala.”

Dhumal rallies in Pacchhad are being seen as party’s attempt to woo the disgruntled party workers, who are siding by his loyalist Dayal Pyari.

Ahead of the assembly elections in 2017, the BJP projected Dhumal as its chief ministerial candidate. However, Dhumal unexpectedly lost to his onetime protege Rajendra Rana from the Sujanpur seat.

Dhumal had been lying low ever since his defeat, but his parliamentarian son Anurag Thakur’s elevation in Modi’s ministry came as a breather for his camp.

Dhumal’s camp had recently been active in holding meetings and planning future strategy.

Recently, a first information report (FIR) was registered against Dhumal loyalist I former IPH minister Ravinder Singh Ravi for circulating a message on social media about the alleged irregularities in purchase of medicines.

JAI RAM ADRESSES RALLIES IN BAGLI, TUNG MELA

CM Jai Ram Thakur on Saturday addressed election rallies in Bagli and Tung Mela in favour of BJP candidate from Dharamshala Vishal Neharia.

Thakur said, “Today the nation is strong under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi as world has now acknowledged India as a super power.”

He said the Prime Minister has taken many historic decisions, such as abolishing Article 370, which was the root cause of the spread of terrorism and antinational activities in the Valley.

He said today even the Congress party stands divided of the Article 370 as they also feel that it was a biggest impediment in the path of development of the state.

He said this will open a new era of peace, progress and prosperity in the Jammu and Kashmir area and it will develop leap and bound under the dynamic leadership of Narendra Modi.

Thakur said Congress leaders were not able to digest the development in the state as well as Centre under the BJP.

He said the double engine has accelerated the pace of development, which was making Congress leaders confused as they had nothing to say against the government.
