Four die, 1 injured in Charkhi Dadri, Sonepat accidents

ROHTAK : Four persons were killed and an army colonel was injured in two road accidents in Charkhi Dadri and Sonepat districts on Sunday.

In the first incident, persons were killed near the RohtakDadr­i bypass in Charkhi Dadri district when a speeding tipper hit the bike which the victims were riding. The deceased, identified as Satish, Dharambir and Rajbir of Rawaldhi village and all in their early 40s, were going from Samaspur village to Rawaldhi in the district.

“Satish and Dharambir died on the spot. An injured Rajbir was rushed to a government hospital in Dadri from where he was referred to PGIMS, Rohtak, but he died on the way,” a police official said. The victims’ postmortem will be conducted on Monday, he added.

The police have registered a case of rash driving and causing death by negligence against the unidentifi­ed tipper driver who fled the spot after the accident.

In the second incident, one person was killed and an armyman, identified Col Rajesh, was was injured after a vehicle hit the Tata Safari SUV they were travelling in near Rasoi village in Sonepat on Sunday morning.

P Nidhin, who was behind the wheels, died on the spot.

“The passerby rushed the army officer to a private hospital at Narela in Delhi from where he was referred to an army hospital. The two were going to Delhi from Meerut when the incident occurred. We have registered a case against the vehicle driver,” a police official said.
