34 Haryana students under ‘Super 100’ project score over 90%

CHANDIGARH : Forty six of the 48 students enrolled under the Super-100 programme of Haryana school education department at Rewari have come out with flying colours in the Joint Entrance Examinatio­n (JEE)-Main, with 34 of them scoring over 90%.

While JEE-Main is conducted for admission to engineerin­g colleges across the country, JEE-Advanced is for the ones seeking admission to IITs. It is mandatory to clear JEE-Main to be eligible to appear for JEE-Advanced.

State programme officer (academic cell) of the education department Pramod Kumar said that two girl students – Simran from Rohtak (99.47%) and Kajal from Fatehabad (99.31%) – who emerged as toppers in the list of 46 came from poor background­s.

Among the 46, there are 16 students from the backward classes and seven from the scheduled castes, Kumar said.

“Most of these students will

get admission in National Institutes of Technology across the country,” he said.

20 SCORE ABOVE 95%, 8 ABOVE 98%

Kumar added that there were 20 students who scored above 95% and eight students who scored above 98% in JEE Main.

The state education department had conducted a written examinatio­n for ‘Super-100’ programme in 2019.

The selected students were provided free of cost training for NEET, IIT and JEE by the state government.

Kumar said that the expenses of boarding and lodging of the students were also borne by the government.
