We will send back infiltrators and their supporters, says Bengal BJP chief
KOLKATA: The Bharatiya Janata Party’s West Bengal unit president Dilip Ghosh triggered a controversy on Sunday by saying that “one crore infiltrators in Bengal” and “those standing by these infiltrators” will be sent back to Bangladesh.
“Hindus were driven out of Bangladesh in hundreds and thousands. Why is Mamata Banerjee opposing granting of citizenship to these victims of religious persecution? On the other hand, the infiltrators are eating away our share of government benefits and the TMC and the Left are facilitating them to do this,” Ghosh said after leading a rally from Madhyamgram town to Barasat town.
“We won’t let the 1 crore infiltrators in Bengal continue living here. They didn’t let us (Hindus) live on the other side of Bengal (Bangladesh) and they have no right to live in this part. As far as those standing by these infiltrators are concerned, we will send back the interest along with the principal,” said Ghosh.
Reacting to his comments, ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) secretary-general and state education minister Partha Chatterjee said, “Dilip Ghosh is our goddess Laxmi. The more he speaks the better for us.”
State junior minister for parliamentary affairs Tapas Roy said, “This loudmouth has nothing to offer but big talk and hate speeches. He should be ashamed of himself.”
Congress state unit chief Somen Mitra said, “It’s time people respond to him by driving him out.”
In the morning, TMC took out a rally opposing CAA and NRC in Jalpaiguri district of north Bengal.
