Int’l fest in Yamunanagar, K’shetra begins tomorrow
KARNAL: The Haryana government is all set to organise another religious extravaganza — International Saraswati Mahotsav 2020 — from January 27 to 29.
This time, special religious and cultural programmes will be held at Adi Badri in Yamunanagar and Pehowa in Kurukshetra.
As per the schedule, the inaugural ceremony will be held on January 27 at Adi Badri amid ‘havan’, chanting of ‘shlokas’ and cultural programmes wherein schoolchildren will participate. A Saraswati ‘kund’ has been prepared for the festival as well.
A fair, Sarasvati Mela, will also be organised in Pehowa where ‘Maha Aarti’ will be performed on all three days. An exhibition will be held at Pehowa as well.
On January 28, a seminar will be organised at National Institute of Technology (NIT) in Kurukshetra on ‘River and Water Conservation’. As per the officials deputed to monitor preparations, thousands of people from all over country will be visiting the state and the government has also sent invitations to the ambassadors of several countries.

ENTIRE EXPENDITURE WILL BE BORNE BY HARYANA SARASWATI HERITAGE DEVELOPMENT BOARD
Haryana tourism department, Saraswati Heritage Development Board besides religious sages have been camping at Adi Badri for the past couple of days.
“International Saraswati Mahotsav is being celebrated for the past several years, but this time, various cultural and religious programmes will be organised on the pattern of International Gita Mahotsav,” said a senior government official.
However, the officials did not disclose the estimates of amount being spent on these events, but said the entire expenditure will be borne by Haryana Saraswati Heritage Development Board.
The Manohar Lal Khattar-led BJP government in the state had earlier approved 11 projects for the rejuvenation of the Saraswati to ensure fresh water flow into the river.
The development board headed by the chief minister was formed to monitor projects, which include construction of Somb Saraswati barrage, Saraswati reservoir and Adi Badri dam on Somb River, a tributary of the Yamuna that originates from Shivalik Hills.
