RIGHT-WING OUTFIT ALLEGED PROTESTERS HURT THEIR RELIGIOUS SENTIMENTS BY OFFERING PRAYERS NEAR A TEMPLE

ROHTAK: Tension prevailed in Jind city after Bajrang Dal activists protested against some Muslim men who were taking out a protest march against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and National Register of Citizens (NRC) on Wednesday.

The Bajrang Dal workers said the protesters had offered namaz in the famous Rani pond area near a temple in the heart of the city before launching their protest march.

The right-wing activists reached the site and confronted the anti-CAA protesters belonging to some Muslim organisations and the Bahujan Kranti Morcha and raised slogans against them.

Harish Ramkali, district convenor of Bajrang Dal, said, “By offering namaz near the temple, they have hurt our religious sentiments. Such incidents will not be tolerated at any cost.”

After the tension escalated between the two groups, Jind deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Kaptan Singh reached the venue and pacified the irate Bajrang Dal activists.

A large number of police personnel were deployed at the protest site and no untoward incident took place.

Speaking to mediapersons, the deputy superintendent of police said that the situation was controlled in time and the anti-CAA protest march was later carried out peacefully from Rani pond area to the deputy commissioner’s office.

“We requested both the groups to maintain peace and harmony in the district,” he added.

A Muslim youth, seeking anonymity, said, “We had no intention to hurt anyone’s sentiments. We offered prayers at the park near Rani pond as there is no mosque in the nearby area.”
