TEMPLE TRUST IN MOTION
Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced in Parliament the formation of a trust to build a Ram temple in Ayodhya, as directed by the Supreme Court in its landmark Nov 9 judgment
MEMBERS OF THE TRUST
The trust, named Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teertha Kshetra, will have 15 trustees. One of them will be from the Dalit community
WHAT WILL IT DO?
■ It will independently take all decisions related to the construction of the temple. A total of 67 acres of land acquired under the Ayodhya Act will be transferred to it
■ All rights, title and interests in relation to the area, including the inner and outer courtyard of the disputed site, shall vest in the trust, according to a govt order

UP ALLOTS LAND FOR MOSQUE
■ Also, Uttar Pradesh allotted five acres in Ayodhya district to the Sunni Central Waqf Board. The land is in Dhannipur village in Sohawal tehsil on the Lucknow highway
■ The board said a meeting on Feb 24 will take a call on the offer. The All India Muslim Personal Law Board and Jamiat Ulema-I- Hind have rejected it

The govt said it will be incorrect to link the Union Cabinet's decision to form the trust to the Delhi elections on Feb 8. SC had directed the Centre to form the trust within three months, and that deadline was set to end on Feb 9
