MAN DUPED OF ₹65,000 ON PRETEXT OF LOAN
GURUGRAM: A 35-year-old man was duped of around ₹65,000 after he received a phone call from an unidentified person who promised to provide him a loan worth ₹80,000, police said on Sunday. The victim made seven payments to the bank account of the person.
Sharukh Khan, the victim, is a resident of Ghasola village in Sector 49. He works at a private company in Gurugram. The incident took place on November 9, 2019, when he received the phone call from an unidentified man regarding the loan.
Khan said, “He told me that if I deposit some money in his bank account, then I would get a loan of around ₹80,000 plus the amount that I deposited.” In the police complaint, he alleged that he made seven payments to the man between November 9 and 11 totalling around ₹65,000. The police said that they registered the case after the initial investigation by the cyber police.
ASI Deepak said, “The suspect is yet to be identified and arrested.” A case was registered against the suspect under sections 379 (theft) and 420 (cheating) of the IPC.
In a separate incident, a 38-year-old man was duped of ₹46,000 while trying to buy a phone on an online marketplace in Sector 40, police said on Sunday.
Abhay Gupta, the victim, is a resident of South City-1, Sector 40. The incident took place in November 2019, when he saw an advertisement for the phone on the website of the marketplace. A case was registered under sections 379 and 420 of the IPC.
