Jind: Liquor shop salesman shot dead

ROHTAK: A 35-year-old salesman at a liquor shop was shot dead by five assailants at Jind’s Bibipur village, police said on Wednesday.

The killing took place on Tuesday evening when the salesman, Sukhbir alias Sonu, was coming to the liquor shop on a motorcycle.

In his complaint to the police, victim’s brother Ravinder said the assailants started intercepti­ng his brother in a car when he was about to reach his workplace.

“Saurabh, Sahil and Mard came out of the car. Saurabh pumped bullets into my brother. When he raised alarm, the accused fled the spot. A local rushed my brother to the civil hospital in Jind, where doctors declared him brought dead,” the complainan­t added.

The motive behind the murder has not be ascertaine­d, but the police suspect it to be a case of personal enmity. A spokespers­on of Sadar police said they have handed over the victim’s body to his family members after conducting autopsy.

“We have booked Saurabh, Sahil and Kala of Bibipur village, Mard of Baroli village and Dinesh of Ghimana village under sections 302, 148,149 and 120 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and sections 25,54 and 59 of the Arms Act,” he added.

PANIPAT : FIR AGAINST 3 FOR KILLING YOUTH

KARNAL: A 19-year-old youth was stabbed to death by three persons in Hari Nagar of Panipat city, police said on Wednesday.

The victim has been identified as Subham Singh alias Golu, a resident of Uttar Pradesh’s Raebareli.

On the complaint of victim’s father, the police have booked Momin, Nima and another person under sections 302, 341 and 34 of the IPC.

The police said victim’s father Ramesh Kumar claimed that the accused had attacked his son on Tuesday evening.

A friend of Subham, Vijay, was also injured when he tried to intervene, the police added. Subham was rushed to the Panipat civil hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival by doctors.

Model Town police station in-charge Sunil Kumar said a first informatio­n report (FIR) has been registered in the case and investigat­ion was on.

However, no arrest has been made so far, he added.
