5 SUSPECTED CASES IN KURUKSHETR­A, AMBALA

KARNAL/AMBALA: Five suspected cases of coronaviru­s surfaced in Kurukshetr­a and Ambala on Wednesday. Two people, including a woman, were admitted to the isolation ward of Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Government Hospital, Kurukshetr­a, after they developed symptoms of COVID-19. The man had returned from Thailand, while the woman had met her brother who had come from New Zealand. Kurukshetr­a chief medical officer (CMO) Sukhbir Singh confirmed that they have symptoms related to the virus. “Their samples were sent to the Government Medical College at Khanpur Kalan, Sonepat, and reports are awaited. They will be kept in the isolation ward,” he said.

Meanwhile, Ambala health officials have also sent the samples of three suspected cases on Wednesday. A 32-year-old man developed the symptoms of the virus after he came in contact with his brother, who had returned from Kuwait. Ambala CMO Dr Kuldeep Singh said, “The man had got himself tested at the civil hospital, Ambala . He is currently in the isolation ward and his reports are awaited.

A 28-year-old man was admitted to the civil hospital after he came in contact with the man whose brother had returned from Kuwait. “The man who had returned from Kuwait was also contacted and is ready to get himself tested,” Dr Kuldeep said. A 28-year-old man, who had returned from Dubai on March 1 and claimed that he has been on self quarantine at his house, also reported positive for the virus , said the CMO.
