Two new cases in Hry, count now 21

CHANDIGARH/AMBALA: Two more persons from Haryana tested positive for coronaviru­s on Saturday, bringing the total count to 21.

A 32-year-old Faridabad man, who worked at a company in Gurugram, tested positive for the virus.

In Ambala, a 21-year-old youth of Ram Nagar village in Patiala district on the Patiala-Ambala border with a travel history of Nepal also tested positive for the disease.

Confirming the developmen­t, chief medical officer Dr Kuldeep Singh said the man was admitted to the Ambala civil hospital with symptoms of Covid-19 on Thursday and his samples were taken on Friday. The confirmati­on report came from PGIMER, Chandigarh, on Saturday.

On March 19, he landed in Delhi from Nepal. The same day, he reached Ambala and travelled to his village on a bike. He took treatment from a local doctor, said the CMO, adding that the Patiala civil surgeon and district administra­tion have been informed about the patient. A medical team has reached his village and his contacts are being traced, he said.

Meanwhile, six coronaviru­s patients have been cured and discharged so far in the state.

Haryana director general, health services, Dr SB Kamboj said 10 positive cases have been reported from Gurugram, four from Panipat, three from Faridabad and one each from Panchkula, Palwal and Sonepat so far. Six patients have been discharged , he said. Officials said five patients from Gurugram and one from Faridabad had been discharged in the last three days.

The state government has also decided to upgrade the capacity of testing laboratori­es at PGIMS, Rothak and BPS medical college for women, Khanpur Kalan, besides setting up new ones at SHK Mewati government medical college, Nalhar (Mewat), Kalpana Chawla government medical college, Karnal and Maharaja Agrasen medical college.
