43 localities declared quarantine zones in Faridkot

FARIDKOT: Deputy commission­er Kumar Saurabh Raj, after consultati­on with and recommenda­tions of the health department and municipal councils, has declared 43 densely populated residentia­l areas in the district as ‘Quarantine Zones’.

The DC added that the decision had been taken as a preventive measure and the list included 14 localities of Faridkot; 17 of Kotkapura and 12 of Jaitu. This quarantine will remain in force till further orders.

SDM Paramdeep Singh said, “The majority of these areas are slums and are high-risk zones. Residents in these quarantine zones have been strictly instructed not to come out of their houses. They would be arrested if they flout orders. We have roped in NGOs to provide essential commoditie­s such as milk, vegetables, fruits, rice, etc to these residents.”

NO VENTILATOR IN BATHINDA; SUSPECTED PATIENT REFERRED TO FARIDKOT

A 26-year-old woman from Bathinda district, who had attended the wedding of an NRI on March 16, and was admitted at the isolation ward at the Bathinda district hospital as a suspected patient, was referred to the Faridkot Medical College, after she had difficulty in breathing. Bathinda has no ventilator support system. Her samples have been sent to the Patiala lab for testing and she is now under observatio­n at the isolation ward of the Guru Gobind Singh Medical College and Hospital (GGSMCH), Faridkot.

“She was admitted to the Bathinda district hospital after showing symptoms of covid-19 on Friday. Late evening, however, she was referred to the GGSMCH, Faridkot. She has no travel history, but attended the wedding of an NRI recently,” said Faridkot civil surgeon, Dr Rajinder Kumar.

A health department official added that her condition was stable.
