OVER 87K RETURNEES UNDER QUARANTINE IN STATE: JAI RAM
CM DIRECTS AUTHORITIES TO PROVIDE PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT TO FRONTLINE WORKERS
SHIMLA: More than 87,000 returnees are under surveillance in the state. Of these, 81,000 are under home isolation and 6,500 in institutional quarantine, chief minister Jai Ram Thakur revealed on Friday.
He was addressing a meeting of deputy commissioners, superintendent of police and chief medical officers of the 12 districts in the state through video-conferencing.
The CM directed them to provide all protective equipment to the doctors, paramedical staff, police personnel and other staff dealing with the persons arriving in the state by trains from various parts of the country.
Stressing the need to ensure better facilities in quarantine centres, he said, “Aged people and chronic patients should be provided with all the required healthcare facilities. If required, they should be shifted to health institutions,” Thakur said.
He informed that 1.30 lakh Himachalis stranded in various parts of the country have reached the state since
April 26. “A total of 87,500 persons are under quarantine and the rest have completed their quarantine period,” he said.
He said the people need not worry about the arrival of stranded Himachalis as the state government was ensuring that nobody would be allowed to go home without proper check-up and medical tests.
He assured that citizens’ safety was the top-most priority of the state government. The CM also directed the deputy commissioners to create additional facilities for institutional quarantine in their respective districts as more people were expected to return in the coming days. He added that the state had made elaborate arrangements of PPE kits and other materials for the safety of corona warriors.
