Weekend lockdown in UP starting today
RESTRICTIONS IN PLACE FROM FRIDAY, JULY 10, 10PM TO MONDAY, JULY 13, 5AM ACROSS THE STATE, SAYS THE ORDER
LUCKNOW: Uttar Pradesh government has imposed a ‘weekend’ statewide restrictions from Friday night to Monday early morning. All offices, markets, urban and rural haats, grain markets, and commercial establishments will remain closed. During the period, the state will run a sanitization and drinking water supply consolidation drive.
Late on Thursday, UP chief secretary RK Tiwari issued the order that says: “Considering the current Covid-19 situation after a review that state government for containment of Covid-19 and some vector-borne diseases such as encephalitis, malaria, dengue, kala Lazar, the state government has imposed certain restrictions from 10 pm onwards from July 10 to 5 am on July 13.”
Essential services will continue during the weekend.
Railways will also operate and the UP roadways would operate buses to ferry passengers arriving at the railway stations. Buses would not operate elsewhere in the state.
The order also says that goods’ transport will not be restricted and traffic will be allowed on the national and the state highways.
Apart from an extensive sanitization and drinking water supply consolidation drive, the ongoing door-to-door Covid surveillance drive would continue. Industrial units in the rural areas would also operate, but with safety measures in place.
“Identity cards would serve as Covid pass for those exempted from the restrictions,” said the order.
Ongoing large-scale construction activities such as expressways, bridges, road, government buildings and private projects too would continue.
The government has ordered all the district magistrates and police officers to ensure adequate surveillance and patrolling for adherence to the restrictions.
