RHEA CHAKRABORTY SEEKS TRANSFER OF CASE
ACTOR, NAMED IN FIR OVER SUSHANT SINGH RAJPUT’S DEATH, APPROACHES SC
PATNA:Actor Rhea Chakraborty on Wednesday moved the Supreme Court seeking transfer of an FIR filed against her in the case of actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death, in Patna to Mumbai.
On Tuesday, Rajput’s father, KK Singh, filed a police complaint against Chakraborty and six others, including her family members, for abetting the actor’s alleged suicide.
Chakraborty’s lawyer Advocate Satish Maneshinde on Wednesday said that he has filed a petition in the top court seeking the transfer of the case. Chakraborty has also sought a stay on a probe by Bihar Police till the disposal of her plea in top court, the lawyer said.
Rajput was found hanging from the ceiling of his apartment in Mumbai’s Bandra on June 14.
A four-member team from Patna police failed to meet Chakraborty in Mumbai on Wednesday. They, however, visited several other places including Rajput’s house.
Even as the Mumbai police has ruled out any link between Rajput’s death and alleged suicide of Rajput’s secretary Disha Salina, just days before Rajput, a Bihar police official said the probe team has sought her case files.
Patna City SP (Central) Vinay Tiwari said the investigation in the matter was underway.
“It is not correct to say at this point of time that who will be questioned. All those who were named by Rajput’s father in the FIR, have been booked,” Tiwari said.
Meanwhile, senior Supreme Court lawyer Vikas Singh has alleged that Rajput’s family had contacted the Bandra police on February 25, asking them to ensure that nothing untoward happened to him.
“The FIR was registered now as the family was in shock and Mumbai police were not registering FIR, but forcing them to give names of big production houses and get them involved. It was heading in a different direction,” Singh said, on questions over the delay in filing an FIR.
He said the Patna police were also hesitant in filing the FIR against Chakraborty.
