Terrorist killed, 2 hurt in Poonch as army foils infiltration bid
AK 47 rifle, 2 magazines, eatables recovered
JAMMU: One terrorist was killed and two others were seriously injured as an infiltration bid along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir was foiled by the Indian Army, defence spokesman Lt Col Devender Anand said.
“The infiltration bid was scuttled in Krishna Ghati sector on Friday when the alert troops noticed a group of terrorists attempting to sneak into this side from across the LoC and immediately engaged them.
The gunfight resulted in on-the-spot killing of one terrorist and serious injuries to two others,” the spokesman said.
“Subsequent search in the area showed that the body of the terrorist had been dragged away from the incident site. However, one AK 47 rifle, two AK 47 magazines and some eatables were recovered from the site,” the spokesman said.
He said Pakistan markings on the eatables and a few other items clearly indicated the complicity of Pakistan in sponsoring terror activities in Jammu and Kashmir
“Security forces are maintaining a robust counter-infiltration grid along the LoC to foil any nefarious designs by Pakistan,” Lt Col Anand said.
PAK SHELLS FORWARD AREAS ALONG LOC
The Pakistan Army shelled mortars at forward areas along the Line of Control in Poonch district on Sunday morning, prompting retaliation by Indian Army, the defence spokesman said.
“Around 6:45 AM, the Pakistan army initiated unprovoked ceasefire violation by firing with small arms and shelling mortars along the LoC in Mankote sector. Indian Army retaliated befittingly,” the spokesperson said.
The shelling in Mankote sector was going on when last reports were received, but there was no report of any casualty, he said.
