Death toll in Haryana rises to 1,000 as 25 more succumb

CHANDIGARH: Twenty-five people succumbed to coronaviru­s infection in Haryana on Monday, taking the death toll to 1,000, while a daily spike of 2,488 cases pushed the tally in the state to 96,129, as per the health bulletin.

Among the fatalities, six were reported from Panchkula, four each from Karnal and Kaithal, two each from Faridabad, Gurugram, Nuh, Sirsa and one each from Kurukshetr­a, Hisar and Sonipat.

Haryana had recorded its highest single-day spike of 2,783 coronaviru­s cases on Saturday.

Among the 1,000 fatalities, 698 are males and the rest females. Also, 2,125 more patients have been cured, taking overall recoveries to 74,712.

The state has 20,417 active cases. As of Monday, the state has a recovery rate of 77.72%, fatality rate was 1.04%, doubling rate is 27 days and positivity rate 6.38%, according to the bulletin.

As per the bulletin, Gurugram yet again recorded the highest 336 new cases, followed by Faridabad 279, Sonepat 205, Ambala 185, Karnal 179 Kurukshetr­a 164, Hisar 139, Rohtak 133, Panipat 129, Panchkula 95, Rewari 71, Palwal 50, Mahenderga­rh 48, Jhajjar 44, Bhiwani 69, Sirsa 57, Fatehabad 65, Yamunanaga­r 69, Kaithal 65, Jind 62, Charkhi Dadri 35, and Nuh 9.

The number of critically ill patients stood at 319 that included 50 patients on ventilator support.

Meanwhile, state health minister Anil Vij has said that three exclusive critical covid care centres will be set up in the state. These centres will be set up at PGIMS, Rohtak, Kalpana Chawla Government Medical College, Karnal and Maharaja Agrasen Medical College, Agroha, he said.

State has adequate medical oxygen: ACS

Haryana has adequate production and storage capacity of liquid and medical oxygen, additional chief secretary (ACS), health, Rajeev Arora said on Monday.

The ACS gave this assurance during a video conference organised by the Centre with states to ensure availabili­ty of oxygen for treatment of Covid-19 patients.

Arora said state has four air separation units namely Air Liquide, Panipat having capacity of around 240 metric tonner (MT), Jindal Steels, Hisar having a capacity of 6.8 MT, Gupta Gases having a capacity of 3.0 MT and Gupta Industrial Gases having a capacity of 2.5 MT. “We also has eight medical oxygen fillers to fill medical oxygen in D Type and B type cylinders and this oxygen is being supplied to hospitals and medical colleges,” he said. He said there are 62 tankers registered in Haryana for transporta­tion of liquid oxygen.
