CHANDIGARH : The Aam Aadmi Party’s Punjab co-incharge Raghav Chadha on Saturday accused chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh of acting like a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) agent, advising him to officially join the saffron outfit.

During a press conference in Chandigarh, Chadha condemned cabinet minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa for opposing the decision of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) for not inviting Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the upcoming centenary events, including the 400th birth anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur.

“While on the one hand, the entire nation is hating PM Modi due to the farmers’ movement, the Amarinder-led Congress government on the other is advocating to invite him as chief guest for the upcoming centenary events.

“Captain is helpless and bound to appease Modi and Amit Shah (home minister) as he cannot afford to annoy them. They are holding the Enforcement Directorate (ED) back from initiating action against his son Raninder Singh. His love for his son is forcing him to bow in front of the Modi-Shah duo. This was the reason why Amarinder was compelled to try to interfere in the affairs of a religious body,” said Chadha.

Amarinder, he said, visited Delhi to meet Amit Shah, but he did not bother to travel a few extra kilometres to meet the protesting farmers.

“That Amarinder is basically a Modi agent in Punjab has been proven time and again during the farmers’ struggle,” he claimed.
