ROHTAK: Former chief minister and leader of opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Thursday said rising dissent and commotion in the ruling BJP-JJP alliance indicates the government had lost the people’s trust.

He was reacting to the recent meeting of Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar and deputy CM Dushyant Chautala with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union home minister Amit Shah.

Hooda said the coalition government was formed against the public sentiment and was constantly taking anti-people decisions. “Today, every section of the state, be it farmers, labourers, workers, shopkeepers and small businessmen, are all agitating against the policies of the government, but the leaders are focussing on saving the government and their chairs. A government that runs against the public sentiment will automatically fall,” he said.

Cong to gherao Haryana Raj Bhawan today

Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee president Kumari Selja on Thursday said the Congress will gherao the Haryana Raj Bhawan on Friday as the Haryana governor had refused to meet party leaders to discuss the farmers’ issue.

Reaching out to the farmers protesting in Karnal, Selja accused the BJP-led Union government of not taking the famers’ concerns seriously though several protesting farmers had lost their lives. She also slammed Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar for deputing thousands of cops to stop farmers from attending his kisan mahapanchayat in Karnal.

“The chief minister should apprise the Centre of the farmers’ concerns regarding the three agriculture laws,” the Congress leader said.
