Karnal/Chandigarh Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar has said that the international celebrities should refrain from making any comments on the ongoing farmers’ agitation as it is India’s internal matter. “Nobody should interfere in India’s internal matter as our democratic system is capable of resolving any issue,” Khattar said.

The CM said the Union government was holding talks with the farmers. “Even the Prime Minister has said that he was only a call away and farmers should continue the dialogue with the government to resolve this issue,” he added.

The chief minister also heard grievances of people and directed the officials for redressal. He placed under suspension two employees working in agriculture and farmers’ welfare department for not releasing payments on time for work done under the Jal Shakti Abhiyan 2019. This was CM’s first visit to his constituency since he had to cancel a visit to Kaimla village after protesters ransacked the venue on January 10.

‘Training centre to come up at Gharaunda’

Khattar announced to set up a district-level training centre at Gharaunda to train and make rural women self -reliant under the Rural Livelihoods Mission.

The CM said if women of selfhelp groups make good quality items and their goods will be sold at Vita and Hafed booths, which will increase their income. The CM also distributed cheques worth ₹16.5 crore to women from 933 self-help groups of Karnal district.

Farmers inaugurate Gharaunda bus stand

Hours after Khattar virtually opened the Gharaunda bus stand, a group of farmers inaugurated it on their own. Farmers alleged that the BJP government was not taking their concerns seriously and they will oppose all the programmes of BJP and JJP leaders.
