ROHTAK: Owing to protests against the killing of a man identified as Binder alias Bijender by the Rohtak STF in an alleged fake encounter on February 7 near Mahendergarh Chowk in Dadri, four cops were suspended and one was arrested by the Dadri police.

The suspended cops are assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Hitender Kadian, cyber cell ASI Ranbir Singh, constables Sachin and Harinder. The Dadri police have recovered a car and pistol used in the ‘fake encounter’ from Harinder.

Dadri superintendent of police (SP) Vinod Kumar said that a man was shot dead by car-borne men at Mahendergarh Chowk in Dadri on February 7. “During investigation, we collected CCTV footages and found that the assailants had used a red SUV to commit the crime. After tracing the car used in the crime, we got to know that the man was killed by a team of Rohtak STF, who were tracing the murder accused of Vikas alias Vicky, a resident of Baliyani village in Rohtak, who was shot dead in broad day light last week,” he added.

The SP said that they had arrested Harinder, who confessed to the fake encounter.

“He told us that they had received inputs that a group of people booked in connection to the Vikas murder case have stopped their car near Mahendergarh Chowk in Dadri. When they reached there, a group of men, including Binder alias Bijender, started their car and the cops fired shots at them, considering them the assailants of Vikas. Binder was killed in the firing,” the Dadri SP added.

Dadri SP Vinod Kumar said they have started a probe into the fake encounter of Binder and launched a manhunt to nab the accused. “I have assured parents of the victim that their family will get justice and they will ensure punishment of the cops for attempting a fake encounter,” he added.
