PUNJAB HARYANA RAIN SOPS ON MEDALLISTS
CHANDIGARH: With 10 of its players in the India men’s hockey team that won a bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics, Punjab chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh congratulated the team and announced a cash reward of ₹1 crore each to all the players from the state.
“A tremendous achievement to be finishing on the podium after 41 years. The hockey bronze is worth its weight in gold,” Capt Amarinder tweeted.
Haryana, on the other hand, announced ₹2.5 crore each to the two bronze-winning hockey team players from the state, besides job in the sports department and a plot on concessional rates. Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar announced ₹4 crore for its silver medallist wrestler Ravi Dahiya. He will also be appointed to the post of Class-I officer, apart from a plot at concessional rates.
Also, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) president Bibi Jagir Kaur announced to give ₹1 crore from the gurdwara body to the hockey team.
CHANDIGARH: Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar on Thursday announced to construct an indoor wrestling stadium with modern and world-class facilities at the native village of Ravi Dahiya, who has won the silver medal in the 57kg freestyle wrestling in Tokyo Olympics.
Congratulating Dahiya, a resident of Sonepat district, Khattar announced that the wrestler will be given a cash award of Rs 4 crore for winning a silver medal in the Olympics. He will also be appointed to the post of Class-I officer, apart from the state government giving a plot at concessional rates to Dahiya.
Similarly, the two bronze winning hockey team players from Haryana will be given Rs 2.5 crore each cash award, besides job in the sports department and a plot on concessional rates.
