‘I am happy he’s getting married’

Actor Monica Bedi, who made headlines for her alleged romantic involvement with underworld don Abu Salem (inset), says that she’s happy that Salem is getting married. “I am happy for him. Why would I have anything new to say? I have nothing to do with him and to each their own. It’s his call and that’s absolutely fine,” says the 40-year-old actor.

Salem who is in jail, is expected to marry a 26-year-old woman from Mumbra in Thane district, Maharashtra. He met the girl on a train from Mumbai to Lucknow last year, while being taken for a court hearing. He apparently married the woman on the train in the presence of witnesses, but is reportedly going to marry her socially now, after the girl asked him to “rescue her from her defamation.”

Bedi, who is also known to have been

married to Salem, has however claimed that she was in a live-in relationship with the 40-year-old gangster, and never married him. Bedi was arrested in Lisbon, Portugal, along with Salem and extradited to India in 2005.

The actor-model who is currently busy reading a couple of TV serial scripts, and has been seen in some TV reality shows, says that she’s happy with her life. “I am happy with all the love I get from my fans. While I would love to do films as well, I am happy focusing on television for now. There is very little difference between the big screen and the small screen now,” she says.
