Actor Swara Bhaskar (right) was recently in the Capital to be part of a panel discussion on the portrayal of women in cinema. The Tanu Weds Manu Returns actor loved the discussion, as it was relevant to the society.

“Projection of women in cinema is a very relevant issue. Cinema in India has a great reach, so it is important to examine and critique the way it is representing women,” said the Delhi girl.

“While films like Queen, Piku, NH10 and Kahaani give us a reason to celebrate, there are films that stereotype women or deal with women issues insensitively. In this context, discussions such as these are critical as they question the public perception,” she adds.
