Filmmaker Sanjay Gupta (below), whose upcoming film also marks the comeback of actor Aishwarya Rai Bachchan (right), says that it was the latter who decided her look in the film. The actor has gone de-glam in the film and Gupta adds that she wanted her character to look as authentic as possible.

“Aishwarya’s de-galm look was entirely her creation. I just gave her the brief. In fact, the character that she plays couldn’t have been glamorous anyway. She had to have a simple look,” he says, adding, “Aishwarya has completely thrown herself into her character and done her best.”

Talking about the actor’s dedication, Gupta further said that the 41-year-old worked even when she was not well recently. “There were times when I felt a little bad too. I never wanted to make her work when she was not well. But she insisted that we continue. Also, sometimes we were shooting on locations, another time a set was put up, so we could not delay the shoot,” he adds.

Aishwarya was visited by her four-year-old daughter Aaradhya when she was shooting as well. “It happens all the time that actors have people from their families visit them. Aaradhya would also come sometimes, not to the sets, but would stay in Aishwarya’s vanity van,” he says.

While the film has created a lot of buzz, as the audience will see Aishwarya on screen after five years, Gupta is not nervous. “I don’t think I am under any kind of pressure. In fact, it is a big responsibility. Aishwarya has trusted me with the film,” says the filmmaker.
