‘This is the best time for dancers’
Filmmaker-turned-choreographer Remo D’Souza (left) feels that talented dancers have a very good chance to make it big in the industry as perceptions have begun to change.
“Everyone knows what dance can do to the film and everyone is very serious about the role it can play. It’s the best time for the dancers in the industry,” says Remo, whose two dance directorials — ABCD: Anybody Can Dance (2013) and ABCD 2 (2015) garnered a lot of appreciation.
“The film industry is changing, and so are the perceptions about different kinds of films. People can now see what wonders dance movies can do,” he added.
Television has seen numerous dance reality shows where some of the contestants make it big by winning, and others continue to hunt for their big break. But Remo says that he has always made sure that choreographers on his dance reality shows get what they deserve.
“Whatever shows I have judged and whatever shows I have done, all of my choreographers are doing very well. Be it Dharmesh, Shakti, Raghav or Salman. I have about 15 of them, and they all are doing very, very well,” says Remo, who will soon launch his own dance reality show.
