‘MY KIDS WANT ME TO GET MARRIED’

Sushmita Sen says that both her daughters want her to wed, but she can’t find the right man

My kids have the same mindset as me. We are open to life and whatever it brings... getting married won’t be a problem

Sushmita Sen says that it’s not just her, but also her two daughters, Renee (15) and Alisah (5), who are ready to see her married. “My kids have the same mindset as me. We are open to life and whatever it brings. That is the way I have raised them. So, getting married will not be a problem because they are ready for it. However, finding the right man is,” says the 39-year-old actor.

Meanwhile, Sushmita, who will be seen judging a comedy show soon, says that she has always made a conscious effort to keep her daughters away from the limelight. “I never bring my younger daughter Alisah on the sets of my film or anything,” she says. In fact, Sushmita who adopted both her daughters, says that her effort has always been to give her kids a normal upbringing. “The mindset is to take them out to the grocery shop, to the park and into a normal environment and not to force upon them what I do. It’s all about teaching my children at a very young age to identify with people, with who they are and not what they do. Being an actor is a profession, being famous is what you do, it is not who you are,” she says.

However, the kids seem to like showbiz already. “I wanted to keep her away from it (showbiz) for as long as possible. But I brought her on the sets of this (comedy) show and as expected, she was on the mike telling me what to do, you didn’t need a director and cinematographer while she was there. I had to go back to being mom and send her back to school. But both my daughters have enough talent, they just have to channelise it well,” she says.

Renee, says Sushmita, has already made it clear that she wants to enter the film industry just like her mother. “She can’t wait to get done with school and then be on the set. She is very clear about that. But I have a deal with her. She can do anything with her life as long as she has a college degree. She is very enamoured (with this life),” she says.
