Actor Raveena Tandon faced an unfortunate incident recently while she was celebrating Independence Day at an event in Los Angeles, US. While she was on stage, one of the organisers allegedly came up and started misbehaving with her. “In LA after two glorious days, of spending the Independence Day celebrations — sadly a bad ending. All was going well. Till a drunk got on stage. Some chap ... started misbehaving, and padding comments, sadly all security was down and couldn’t get to him first (sic),” Raveena tweeted, adding, “(He) was one of the organisers and was upset that his kids didn’t get to travel in my car with me to the event, which security and protocol didn’t allow.”

“(He) started making nasty remarks till I had to yell out to the others to get some other guys up .. And that’s when they took him away! (sic),” she posted.

In the past, other actors have often spoken about how they have also been harassed at events and forced to do things which they never signed up for, just because they are getting paid for the event. While actors are often paid big bucks for some of these events and performances, actor Mugdha Godse says that many times the actors are asked to do much more than what they sign up for. “They feel that they have bought us. So they often add stuff like ‘yahaan picture kitchwa li jiye’ and all,” she says. Actor Gauahar Khan also adds that the actor’s relationship with the organisers makes a difference, however, no one should be able to force the actor to do anything extra. “You need to put your foot down and do only what you have committed to,” says Gauahar.

Actor Sophie Choudry too faced a similar incident during a New Year’s Eve performance some time back. “One of the security guards was drunk. He kept falling on me. In the end I had to literally push him and slap him ... getting the right security people is the key,” says Sophie. Actor Zarine Khan was also mobbed at an event due to inadequate security. “The crowd got uncontrollable and they pushed me as they wanted a picture,” she says.
