It’s safety over money for Sonam

Bollywood actors are often offered large sums of money to make special appearances at weddings, store launches and to perform at stage shows. Most of them, more often than not, don’t have any issues with taking up these proposals. But when Sonam Kapoor was recently offered a whopping ` 1.5 crore for a 10-minute appearance by a Dahi Handi mandal, she turned it down.

Apparently, the 30-year-old considers these celebrations “unsafe”. Traditionally, troupes of young men and women get together to form a human pyramid in order to reach and break an earthen pot which is dangling at a certain height. But every year, these kind of activities also lead to several unfortunate accidents.

A source close to the actor says, “Sonam is aware of the numerous accidents that occur during this festival annually. And although she was requested to make appearances at a few pandals across the city, she turned all of them down, despite being offered ` 1.5 crore for a 10-minute appearance at one of them.”

We tried contacting Sonam, but the actor remained unavailable for a comment.
