ATHIYA IS UNDAUNTED BY CRITICISM

After making a dream debut with a Salman Khan production, Athiya Shetty is now ready to take on the film industry. Here, she talks to us about the feedback she received for her first film, and more.

Your film received a mixed response from all. How did you deal with that?

I received positive feedback for my performance, and for the chemistry that Sooraj (Pancholi; co-star) and I shared on screen. I know it is impossible to make everyone happy. Being part of the industry for so long, my father (Suniel Shetty) always says, ‘With success comes failure.’ I know that nobody is perfect. I take criticism constructively. You need to filter the negative comments.

Do you have a list of directors you wish to work with?

I have a huge wish list of directors that I’d want to work with, but I don’t want to jinx it (smiles).

How did you deal with being compared to Sonam Kapoor?

I am too new to the industry to be compared to Sonam Kapoor. She has earned a name in the industry, and she is one of the most beautiful actresses around. She has created a league of her own.

You have just signed your first endorsement deal with Maybelline New York. How does it feel?

It is a dream come true to have such an iconic brand as my first endorsement. Being a girl, makeup is essential to me. I have been using their products for a long time. Signing on the dotted line has been very special.

How do you plan to spend the money you have received from this deal?

I will definitely spend a certain amount of it, but I’m not too sure on what though, at the moment. I am very conscious about what I spend money on. So, I wish to save the rest of it.
