It was a double treat for India when Kannada film Care Of Footpath 2 was announced as the lateral entry at the 88th Academy Awards in the general category and the movie’s lead actor Deepp Pathak (right) hopes that his film wins the Academy Award.

Director Chaitanya Tamhane’s Marathi film Court will also be in the Oscar’s race in the Best Foreign Film category.

“I have seen the trailer of Court and I think it’s a great movie but I want our movie to get the Oscars for India. Sometimes being greedy is nice,” says Deepp. The 25- year- old actor says that the movie’s team had been working very hard to get nominated for the Oscars.

“We were in talks with the Oscar’s team from almost eight months. We did everything to meet the parameters required for the nominations in the Oscar Awards,” says Pathak.

Directed by 19-year-old director Kishan Shrikanth, the movie also stars actors Esha Deol and Avika Gaur.

Deepp feels that it is the sensitive issue of the movie that will appeal the most to the audience at the Oscars.

“This story is on juvenile crime and I think it’s a sensitive issue. May be this is why the audience will pay more attention to our film because it is made after a lot of research and hard work,” he says.

The movie, made in Hindi and Kannada and dubbed in Telugu, will have a premiere in Los Angeles on November 6.
