There was a time when I felt insecure: Bips

Actor Bipasha Basu opens up about a phase when she felt anxious about her career

With more than 30 films in a career spanning over 14-years, Bipasha Basu (left) has been through her share of highs and lows, but the actor says there was a time when she felt insecure.

Bipasha, 36, who made her debut in a supporting role with Ajnabee (2001), bagged her first leading role in Vikram Bhatt’s Raaz in 2002.

But almost a decade after her breakthrough role, there came a phase when she felt jittery as an actor.

“I felt fear when Raaz 3 released. That year I was fearful. Because I was changing everything about my life, getting back to work. It was an insecure phase. But I am not a born insecure person. So that was the only time I felt a little scared,” says Bipasha.

The Vikram Bhatt-directed horror movie was a hit and released after a string of her dull box office outings such as Aakrosh (2010), Dum Maaro Dum (2011) and Players (2012).

The actor adds that she overcame the phase with time.

“I am not an over ambitious person. I do what I like to do. Life goes on. Once you feel that you’re again back to your own groove, you find it, you get your confidence back. Since then, things have been good,” she says.

Following Raaz 3, Bipasha was seen mostly in horror films such as Creature 3D (2014) and Alone (2015), but she says she feels confident about doing other genres as well.

“I am confident with everything. You put me in the worst film of 2014 — Humshakals, (ask me to) stand behind and not say a dialogue, I am still confidently standing there. I don’t have a lack of confidence in any genre. I give my 100% to everything that I take up,” Bipasha says.

I felt fear the year Raaz 3 released. That year I was fearful. Because I was changing everything about my life,
