Producer Boney Kapoor (left) says he is keen on making a sequel to Mr India (1987).

There has been a lot of buzz about Mr India 2 and Boney confirmed that they are looking for an exciting script, adding that the casting of the actors will depend on the script.

“We are keen to make Mr India 2, but we need an exciting story for it. The day we get the idea, we will jump at it. We want to make the sequel,” he says. Mr India (1987), a science fiction superhero film, directed by Shekhar Kapur, had actors Anil Kapoor and Sridevi in the lead.

But Boney says that Shekhar would not direct the sequel. “He (Shekhar) is busy with Hollywood. He is doing a lot of stuff in the West. If you want to make a film of this kind, you have to be totally passionate and involved,” he says.

“That time, it was his (Shekhar) only film... everybody at that time was involved with the film. We need a director, who takes this film as a mission... It would be a challenge to make this film,” he adds. Shekhar is presently occupied with his film, Paani.

Boney says his children — actor Arjun Kapoor, Anshula, Jhanvi and Khushi have grown up watching the hit film.

Talking about the movie, Sridevi says, “I followed my director for the scenes and my choreographer for the dance steps.”

In Mr India, Sridevi imitated Charlie Chaplin in one of the scenes and her producer husband Boney is all praise for her. “She did the scene confidently,” Boney says.

Interestingly, actor Vidya Balan has expressed her desire to play Charlie Chaplin in a film, and Sridevi feels Vidya will do a good job at it. “She is an a excellent actor and I am sure she will do justice to such a role,” Sridevi adds.

Meanwhile, gossip mills are abuzz that Sridevi and Boney’s daughter Jhanvi is going to make her debut in Bollywood. When asked about it, Sridevi chose to stay mum.
