AMITABH BACHCHAN

Big B has fond mem­o­ries of his child­hood days. “I have never been told by my par­ents that I was a hor­ri­ble child. I have heard good things. But we al­ways got into trou­ble — we had fights in school and came back home with bad re­ports,” he said in an in­ter­view. ear­lier.

AAMIR KHAN

The ac­tor was born in Mum­bai to film­maker Tahir Hus­sain, a film pro­ducer and Zeenat Hus­sain. The el­dest of four sib­lings, Aamir had a rather filmy child­hood as he made his Bol­ly­wood de­but as a child ac­tor. He ap­peared in a song from the film Yaadon Ki Baaraat (1973). She was born and bought up in Ban­ga­lore un­til she moved base to Mum­bai to try her luck with mod­el­ling. “I wanted to be in films but didn’t want any­one to taunt my par­ents. So I was a top­per in school and col­lege,” she’s quoted as say­ing.

AK­SHAY KU­MAR

The son of an army man, Ak­shay Ku­mar has of­ten spo­ken about his tough up­bring­ing. “My dad would wake me up at 5am and take me for a jog. I was al­ways early to bed and early to rise. I was brought up in an army way,” he was quoted as say­ing ear­lier.

SAL­MAN KHAN

Known to be Bol­ly­wood’s bad boy, Khan, who has sib­lings Ar­baaz and So­hail too, says they had a fun-filled child­hood. In an in­ter­view Sal­man has said that as chil­dren, all three broth­ers would take the blame if any one of them got pulled up for a mis­chief.

HRITHIK ROSHAN

The son of film­maker Rakesh Roshan, Hrithik came into Bol­ly­wood as a child ac­tor. The ac­tor suf­fered from a stut­ter­ing prob­lem in his child­hood. “For oral tests at school, I used to bunk school, I used to fall sick, I used to break my hand,” he has said ear­lier.

KA­T­RINA KAIF

Be­fore she made her de­but with Boom in 2003, she started mod­el­ling at the age of 14 and worked in Lon­don for 3 years. Though not much is known about her child­hood, it is learnt that Kat wanted to be­come fa­mous and that’s why she took up mod­el­ling.

PRIYANKA CHO­PRA

From Bareily to Bos­ton, PeeCee is the face of small-town girl making it big. “I come from a mid­dle-class fam­ily. De­spite that, my par­ents gave me an op­por­tu­nity to be who­ever I wanted to be,” she has said ear­lier.

KA­REENA KAPOOR KHAN

The younger daugh­ter of Rand­hir Kapoor, Ka­reena Kapoor lit­er­ally grew up on a film set. The ac­tor’s older sis­ter Karisma Kapoor was one of her big­gest in­spi­ra­tions. As a kid Bebo is known to have said, “I am go­ing to be an ac­tress. I am dy­ing to grow up.”

DEEPIKA PADUKONE

Daugh­ter of bad­minton player Prakash Padukone, Dippy was a statelevel bad­minton player. “I’d wake up at about 5am, go for train­ing, go to school, re­turn and go to play again. Life was pretty sim­ple,” she has said ear­lier.
