Actor Aamir Khan, who was shooting for his upcoming film in Ludhiana, got seriously injured on the sets on Saturday.

The actor, who has put on more than 35kg for the film and currently weighs 90kg, has hurt his shoulder and had to be brought back to Mumbai for bed rest.

“Aamir got injured on the sets while shooting a wrestling sequence. He has suffered a shoulder injury. He came back to Mumbai for a week’s bed rest,” says the actor’s spokesperson.

Aamir plays the role of Haryana-based wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat in the film and buzz is that the injury is the result of strenuous training and long schedules which the actor has been undergoing in order to finish shooting.

However, the shoot has been stopped for the time being. “For now the shooting in Ludhiana is stalled. The doctor will advise further course after a week,” adds his spokesperson.

While there have been reports about this weight gain taking a toll on Aamir's health, his trainer, Rahul Bhatt, filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt’s son, denies this. “My job is to make sure to keep things in check and all I can say is that Aamir is only making this easy. He follows the advice of professionals like us and we are minimizing risks so that this weight gain has no long-term effect on his health,” he says.

Rahul adds, “We already have a battle plan for him to lose this weight too. He is addicted to hard work and I am 110% sure that he will lose this weight without compromising his health.”
