Summer staples go winter-perfect

- (WITH INPUTS BY ANUJ LALWANI, STYLIST)

The nip in the air is pretty tangible, but it’s not the time to fully raid your winter wardrobe. So, play it smart and style in intelligent ways to revamp and re-use your summer staples to fit the season. From topping a breezy with a pullover or cardigan to layering your cottons with cardigans and jackets — give a winter treatment to your summer stash. Here are some tips:

THE FUN IN LAYERING: You don’t have to put away favourite floral and cotton ensembles. Layer these up with a lightweight jacket or blazer to add some fun to your winter wardrobe. You can also pair summer shorts with sheer stockings for a fun look.

CLEVER COMBOS: Turn a summer dress into a winter-perfect skirt by putting on a pullover or graphic-print cardigan. Pair this ensemble with knee-high boots and you’ll be pulling off the season super stylishly, and like a complete pro.

MAXIMISE YOUR STYLE: Typically considered summer-perfect, maxi dresses can work beautifully during the winter season as well. They keep your legs covered, and, if worn with a nice woollen shrug and fun ankle-length boots, they can also do a wonderful job of keeping you totally snug.

TURTLENECK TRICKS: Invest in a high-quality turtleneck or two. Keep the colours solid and neutral. You can work the high neck in fun ways with almost any kind of summer fixes like pastel shift dresses or skirts.

ADDING SOME FLARED PANACHE: If you thought your summery palazzos in quirky patterns would be hard to pull off in the cold months, think again! Pair your flares with a well-fitted jacket in a wintery hue of grey or black and ankle-length boots, turning your summer pants into a perfect winter ensemble.
