Comedian-actor Vir Das (above) believes that in the current day scenario, it is very important for an artist to maintain a digital footprint. The 36-year-old actor, who has a YouTube channel where he uploads podcasts, admits that it took him some time to figure out the importance of digital platforms. “I realised that I needed to have some kind of a digital presence because fans today are tech savvy and it is perhaps the best medium to communicate with them and put forth your opinions. I have been thinking about creating a kind of digital platform for a long time, but just couldn’t find time to do it,” he says, further revealing the reason behind his weekly podcast’s title — Askshit. “So, one day, while taking a dump, I came up with the idea. That’s how the genesis of Askshit happened really. The point of it was simple: Tackle some very serious questions and issues with jokes and comedy,” he says, adding that he has got a decent response to the seven episodes. “I was surprised to see that all of them went viral. And I couldn’t be happier. If I can make someone think and laugh about a very serious social issue, then my work is done,” he signs off.
