Kareena can cross borders to promote education

Actor Kareena Kapoor Khan has said that she would love to go to Pakistan to promote the education of the girl child.

“Of course yes. I would love to go anywhere to spread the message of the girl child’s education,” Kareena said when asked if she would go to Pakistan if given a chance. The story of Bebo’s last release revolved around both India and Pakistan.

According to several reports, the percentage of the girl child’s education in Pakistan is very low as compared to boys. A recent UNESCO report estimates that only 12 percent of girls are literate in Pakistan.

Lauding the improving statistics of girl’s education in India, Kareena, who is an ambassador of UNICEF said, “There is no doubt that tremendous progress has been made in India in the area of delivering education to children. But even today, the quality of education remains a big challenge. Girls are the pride of India.”

Speaking about the importance of child rights, she added, “We speak about human rights, but the rights of children are also extremely important. I am confident that our combine d efforts will ensure that girl children will be inspired to complete their education.”
