FARAH KHAN WANTS TO CAST ZAYN MALIK

Earlier this year, fans of former member of the British boy band One Direction, Zayn Malik, were in for a treat when filmmaker Farah Khan hinted at casting him in the sequel to Main Hoon Na (MHN 2004). We asked Farah if that was just playful banter or was she serious, and it seems like she has made up her mind. “As soon as I write Main Hoon Na 2, and if I ever write it, we will surely think of this because Zayn Malik is an extremely goodlooking guy and he is talented. I think he met Shah Rukh (Khan) somewhere and on Twitter he wrote that Main Hoon Na was his favourite movie,” she says.

However, right now Farah has other plans. “As of now there’s no plan of MHN 2. I am writing this other script about two girls, which I am finishing,” she says.

Farah, who was recently honoured at the 37th Cairo International Film Festival for her film Om Shanti Om (2007), says that awards in India have lost their importance. “When I started, almost 22 years ago, winning an award was a big thing and it was prestigious. At the time we would not know who will win the award. All the nominees would sit and we would wait. But down the years now, because there are so many of them and because it’s more a TV show, somewhere it has got diluted.”
