Actor Anushka Sharma, (left) who has been part of the Hindi film industry for the past eight years, has said she owes her success to her first director, Aditya Chopra. She made her debut with Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi (2008 ), opposite Shah Rukh Khan.

The 28-year-old actor says, “I have got good films and I am thankful to Aditya Chopra. He put a lot of faith in me. Whenever I work on any Yash Raj film, I feel that they believed in me and that’s why I have been able to be in films today. I had no connection with movies apart from watching them. My journey has been good and by God’s grace, I have not changed.”

With this, Anushka stressed on the fact that she is a “self-made woman” from a “normal background”, who “wants to make the most” of the present time. “I treat my acting career with a lot of respect. Women are doing quite well in various fields — be it in costume designing, direction, editing, production; they are working everywhere now. Writers are penning stories with female leads and the films are doing well at the box office. It is an interesting time, and as an actress, I want to make the most of it,” she adds.

Anushka, who began her career in 2008 and rose to prominence with films like PK (2014) and NH10 (2015) is gearing up for next release with Salman Khan. Other than that, the actor will be seen in Karan Johar’s next and has wrapped up her second movie as a producer where she will also act.
