Taapsee Pannu says she will continue doing films in Bollywood and the Southern film industry
Actor Taapsee Pannu (right) became a popular name in the Tamil and Telugu film industry before she earned recognition in Hindi cinema. Now that she is a popular face in Bollywood, does she intend to shift to one industry?
To answer this question, Pannu says, “A major shift has happened considering that I have three films coming in Hindi and just one bilingual. I don’t see a complete shift because it will be foolishness to withdraw myself from a market where I am already established. I am grateful to them for giving me the experience which I could use in my Hindi films. I cannot uproot myself.”
Talking about her successful rise in Bollywood, she says, “It’s not a conscious shift but after I started working in Bollywood and got a good response, I realised I have the liberty to choose a script. I’ve stopped thinking if it is a Hindi, Tamil or Telugu film. I just look at the script.”
The Delhi born actor, who worked in the South due to lack of offers, says, “I got offers from the South because whatever projects I was getting from Bollywood were with new directors. Acting was not on my plan so I wanted to be safe. Tamil and Telugu films were giving me big names to work with and that worked well for me.”
