Actor Vidya Balan believes in speaking her mind, but only when she’s sure of what she wants to say. When rumours of her marriage, with film producer Siddharth Roy Kapur, falling apart did the rounds, she didn’t give an impulsive reaction and just kept calm. Though the actor admits that initially the media reports affected her, she gradually became immune to them, she says. “I got bothered because I couldn’t understand where those stories were coming from. It was unfair. But now, it really amuses me. If there was a problem it probably would affect me but when there’s nothing wrong, I have a laugh about it,” she says.

Vidya has been married to Kapur for four years and sometime back, there were reports of trouble in their paradise because of Siddharth’s alleged infidelity. Talking about the media reports, she says, “Of course I was shocked (initially). But after a while I realised there were pregnancy stories doing the rounds too. They (gossipmongers) would say every month that I was pregnant. People stoop very low,” adds Vidya.

Speaking about her relationship with Kapur, the 38-year-old says, “I have to tell him everything. It’s like I’ve have got verbal diarrhea. I tell him about all that happens in my day: my hopes, fears and embarrassment. Sometimes I feel I really talk too much. But he never complains and just hears me out. He’s a very patient listener.”

She talks to him about work too, but Vidya says Siddharth tries to protect her when her films don’t fare well at the box office. “When a film is not doing well, I grill him and ask him to share the numbers with me. And he’d try and say ‘I’ve not got them; I will update you in the morning.’ So he is trying to protect me there.” However, she insists they don’t speak about the industry as such. “Our conversations are not about films or my roles. It’s mostly about the audience. It’s not so much about the business of it because I don’t understand that much,” she says.
