Actor Sonam Kapoor (right) played a prominent role in last year’s blockbuster, Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, alongside actor Salman Khan and followed it up with a powerful performance in Neerja, this year. But her father, actor Anil Kapoor (left) feels that in the movie business, “there is always room for improvement, better films, and working with better people.” He says, “You can’t take anything for granted; you have to keep at it. Patience is also a part of your job along with staying on the top of your game. And that needs lots of self-assurance and confidence,” he says.

He believes it’s important for actors to look good as well. “If no good offers are coming [your way], you can’t be careless about your physique. That’s also part of your job,” says Kapoor, adding that we will soon “hear very exciting announcements” about Sonam’s upcoming films.

On his daughter taking time to sign films post Neerja, he says, “That’s how everybody works nowadays. All selfish actors around the world, who want to do great work, take their time (to sign films). There are times when two or three good movies may be offered to you at once, but sometimes, nothing appeals to you,” he says. Kapoor adds hard work is everything in the industry. “Even when you are not working, you still have to try and improve yourself as an actor and as a human being. So, you are keeping yourself engaged physically and mentally by reading, watching and observing things,” he says.
