Ditch the bridal clichés, go jacket-licious!
Winter brides, take note. Ditching that conventional, skimpy choli for a jacketed blouse for bridalwear is not just a practical choice, but also on-point with this trend we spotted at recent celeb weddings. The A-list brides opted for floor-sweeping anarkali jackets.
From actor Bipasha Basu Singh Grover’s gilded jacket that she wore at her reception back in May to actor Hazel Keech’s jacketed style for her sangeet in November — the trend has seen a shaadi revival. And, design experts say being high on comfort has added to its popularity.
“It’s functional clothing. Without being difficult to carry off, it gives you a royal edge. Brides can easily recycle the ensemble after their D-day,” says designer Rimple Narula. Designer Anju Modi agrees. “It’s fuss-free. You can ditch the dupatta and let the jacket take the spotlight. When choosing colours, remember you can’t go wrong with jewelled tones.”
In the song, Channa Mereya from the film, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, Anushka Sharma also ditched the blouse for a tunic topper. The designer of the lehenga, Manish Malhotra tells us: “A trailing lehenga paired with a long top has an old-world charm mixed with international red carpet allure. A muted dupatta adds a hint of modernity.”
