Besides her earthen and rustic voice, Sona Mohapatra (right) is also known for making statements with her unique and colourful outfits. Despite occasional backlash, the singer is confident and proud of her style and fashion choices.

“I am a flamboyant person and I think personality is something you should be proud of. As a live performer, I am always very excited by clothes that speak a language of their own,” Sona said recently.

The 40-year-old singer, known for songs such as Bahara, (I hate Luv Storys; 2010) Ambarsariya (Fukrey; 2013), Naina (2014) and Bedardi Raja (2011), and many other popular songs, says her fashion choices often land her in the worst dressed lists, but she isn't bothered by it, and makes her own style.

“I mix and match my clothes. Most fashion blogs write me off, and they find me very confusing. But I do not want to conform to fashion norms. I want to do my own,” she said.

“The world needs more excitement, personality, a point of view and a voice,” she added.
