Sid­diqui ex­cited to work with Nan­dita Das in Manto’s biopic

Ac­tor Nawazuddin Sid­diqui, who will be es­say­ing the role of au­thor Saa­dat Hasan Manto — best known for his grip­ping short sto­ries — is ex­cited to work with film­maker Nan­dita Das in her next di­rec­to­rial. “Nan­dita Das is an able di­rec­tor and I am look­ing for­ward to work­ing with her,” Nawazuddin says.

“Manto was one of the great­est writ­ers of his time. Cur­rently, I am prepar­ing my­self to play him. We’ve just re­leased my look as Manto,” the 42-year-old ac­tor ex­plains. He is strik­ingly re­sem­bling the late writer in the first look, which was re­cently posted on his Twit­ter.

In her sec­ond di­rec­to­rial ven­ture, Das will be trac­ing the life of Manto, with spe­cial em­pha­sis on the pe­riod of par­ti­tion. The film also fea­ture ac­tor Tahir Raj Bhasin as late ac­tor Sun­der Shyam Chadda, who was Manto’s friend.
