It’s been two months since actor Kareena Kapoor Khan’s son, Taimur Ali Khan, was born. Yet, news about his name, and Bebo’s pregnancy doesn’t seem to wane. Kareena, 36, is taking all the attention coming her way in the right spirit, and enjoying every phase and moment of motherhood. Here’s what she has to say:

It was reported that you call Taimur Little John..

No. I want to clarify that. How can anyone think that? Why would I call my son Little John? His name is Taimur. It is the most beautiful name, and he is the most beautiful and gorgeous man (smiles). And, no, I don’t call him Little John. Please address him as Taimur Ali Khan.

Your pre and post pregnancy, baby and delivery got a lot of attention. While it was expected, did you expect so much?

Not really. I feel I am the first Indian girl to ever get pregnant, wear maternity clothes and appear in public while being pregnant. Many other working women do the same, so I don’t know why it is such a big deal? I read stuff on ‘how come she is doing this? When is she doing that?’

How are you handling this attention?

I’ve been an actor for 17 years to know that one should let certain things go. I’m happy that people looked upon it as an inspiration. It’s fine and I have nothing to shy away from or hide. Of course, everyone wants to have a perfect figure but it’s fine to start working two months after my delivery and look glamorous. I am enjoying every phase and every moment of it.

How has becoming a mother changed you?

It’s a journey that’s extremely personal. It’s a relationship that one develops over time, organically. I am still learning the ropes. In fact, Saif says my attention has completely shifted [to Taimur] and keeps complaining about it. I told him, maybe that’s for a while (laughs). Now, I don’t like leaving home too much.

Filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj recently mentioned that he wants to work with you again as he is your fan...

Saif and I’ve done some great work with Vishal in Omkara (2006) — one of Vishal’s greatest films. I’d love to work with him, and it has to be as great a role as the one I played in that film. I am a huge fan of him and his work. I hope we work together soon.

How can anyone think I’d call my son Little John? I don’t. His name is Taimur. Please address him as Taimur Ali Khan KAREENA KAPOOR KHAN, ACTOR
